Cpl Trevor Ronald McDaniel, CD (Ret'd)

We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter Corporal Trevor Ronald McDaniel, CD (Ret'd) of Port Hood ON, on 14 December 2023 at age 52.
Trevor served in the Royal Canadian Navy between 1997 and 2007 on HMCS Ville de Quebec, HMCS Preserver and HMCS Charlottetown as a Marine Electrical Technician, Ship's Diver and Ship Boarding Team member. During his service with the Navy, he was employed in the recovery effort of Swiss Air Flight 111 in 1998.
Following a remuster to Firefighter in 2007, Trevor served as a Firefighter at Canadian Forces Base Trenton ON and Shearwater NS until he retired from the Canadian Forces in 2016. Trevor faced many challenges in his line of duty, including deployments to Afghanistan as part of Operation APOLLO. One highlight of his career was being part of the guard of honour for the burial of the remains of the Unknown Soldier from Vimy Ridge at the National Memorial in Ottawa.
Throughout his career, Trevor offered encouragement to friends facing challenges, participated in Habitat for Humanity and organized church services at sea for his fellow shipmates.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on 26 January at the Port Hood & Area Resting Place from 2-4:00 p.m. and 7-9:00 p.m. Funeral mass will take place on 27 January at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hood with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Parish Cemetery Fund or the Port Hood & Area Resting Place. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
