We regret to advise of the unexpected death of Corporal Ronald N. Parr, CD (Ret’d) on 13 March 2022 in Edmonton AB at age 60. 

Ron was from St. Catharines ON and enlisted as a Combat Engineer in 1981. After completion of his basic Combat Engineer training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering at Chilliwack BC, he was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment where he spent much of his military career. In 1987 he was posted to 4 Combat Engineer Regiment in Germany and returned to 1 CER on completion of that tour.  Ron was with 1 CER in Edmonton AB when he retired from the Canadian Forces in 2016. During his career, Ron had multiple Operational Deployments that included Afghanistan, Cyprus, and three times in the Former Yugoslavia. Ron was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal.

Ron worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator after he retired from the Canadian Forces with jobs that included route maintenance of the Ice Road in Northern Canada based out of Lac de Gras NWT. 

Cremation has taken place and memorial plans are pending.
