We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Justin Quesnel, CD on 2 November 2021, in Petawawa ON at age 35 years. Justin was a member of 2 Combat Engineer Regiment.

Justin was born in Indian Head SK and was raised in Winnipeg. He worked as a cook before joining the military in 2007. Justin spent the first part of his career as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator but he changed trades in 2012 to become an Electrical Distribution Technician.  Justin joined 2 CER in 2018 from 19 Wing Comox BC in 2018. A skilled Electrical Distribution Technician, he had deployed on operations to Latvia, Ukraine and Iraq.

Friends and colleagues are invited to join Justin’s family for a celebration of Justin's life on Saturday, 13 November 2021 at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Service (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa) for a visitation beginning at 12:00 noon. Visitors must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination and government identification upon their arrival at the Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. An interment with full military honours to take place in the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces, located at Beechwood Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to Beechwood.

Note: A medicine wheel adorns the gravestone of Indigenous veteran Cpl. Justin Quesnel. It's the first time the symbol, and an Indigenous language, has been featured on the gravestone of a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
