After more than 10 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, Cpl Jonathon “Jon” Lomenda will retire on 02 July 2024. As per Cpl Lomenda’s wishes, a small DwD will be held at the Big Scoop Family Restaurant, 13616 Hwy 1, Middleton, NS, on 28 June 2024 at 08:00 hours. Please RSVP. Jon was born in Calgary, AB, and raised just
east of the city in Strathmore, where he completed high school in 2007. In the spring of 2012, he attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to become an Emergency Medical Responder and graduated with honours. He enlisted in the CAF in the summer of 2014, joining the Canadian Military Engineers in Calgary,
AB, as a Firefighter (00149).Jon completed Basic Training in St-Jean, QC, followed by trades training at Canadian Forces Firefighting and CBRN Academy (CFFCA) in Borden, ON. He was posted to 14 Wing Greenwood in April 2016, where he continues to serve. In May 2018, Jon was promoted to the rank of Cpl and by April 2019, he occupied the role of Fire Inspector.
Cpl Lomenda plans to spend as much time as possible with his family. He has enrolled at Athabasca University to pursue the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification.
