After more than 16 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers Branch, Cpl Maxime Désaulniers, CD, will retire on 19 August 2022. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to MCpl A.J.G. Papineau at Antonny.Papineau@forces.gc.ca.
Maxime was born in Arthabaska, QC. He completed high school in July 2006 and then enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in TroisRivières as a Combat Engineer at the age of 17. Maxime completed basic Combat Engineer training at CFB Gagetown, NB, and joined 5 RGC in Valcartier, QC, in August 2007. In 2009, he deployed to Afghanistan. He remained with 5 RGC for ten years, reaching the rank of MCpl.
In 2017, he transferred to the Construction Engineers as an ED tech. Following DP1, he was posted to 3 Wing Bagotville, where he completed OJT. After DP2, he was posted to 2 Wing Bagotville. In February 2022, he transferred from Regular Force to the Air Reserve in Bagotville, where he will continue working until his retirement in August.
Maxime participated in multiple exercises across Canada and in the US, including Maple Reserve and an exchange with the US Army in California.
