    We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Joseph Alexander York, CD (Ret’d) of Kingston NS on 20 July 2022 at age 51 years. Joe’s career in the Regular Force as a Construction Technician spanned 13 years.

    Joe was born in Halifax NS and was raised in the Eastern shore of Nova Scotia. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 2005 as a Construction Technician and was posted to 4 Engineer Support Regiment in Gagetown NB after the completion of his basic training course at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering.  While posted to 4 ESR, Joe participated in numerous domestic exercises and completed the DP2 journeyman course in March 2011. After eight yearsin Gagetown, he was posted to 14 Wing in Greenwood NS.

    During Joe’s posting to Greenwood, he was employed with 14 Mission Support Squadron  Construction Engineering, working primarily on infrastructure-related work orders in support of 14 Wing Operations. While serving in there, Joe deployed to Sinai on Op CALUMET for a seven-month tour, completed specialist training in Savannah Georgia, and to South Dakota on a joint tasking with other nations.

    Joe retired from the Canadian Forces in 2019 and worked as a DND public servant for the Real Property Operations Unit (Atlantic) ) Greenwood Detachment paint shop. 

    Cremation has taken place and there will be no service by request. Online condolences can be sent to the funeral home.
