    We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Jerome Harley Fitzherbert, CD (Ret'd) in his sleep on 18 January 2019 in Chilliwack, BC.

    Born in 1959 in Bath NB, Jerome joined the Canadian Forces in 1977. After completing his Recruit Training at Canadian Forces Base Cornwallis, NS he qualified as a Field Engineer at Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack, BC. For his first posting he stayed in Chilliwack with 1 Combat Engineer Regiment. Jerome qualified in Basic Explosive Ordnance Disposal in 1983 and was posted to 4 Combat Engineer Regiment, Lahr in 1988. After this tour he returned to Canada to work with Chilliwack Base Operations.

    During his career Jerome deployed to the Gulf War and the Former Yugoslavia. He received the Chief of Defence Staff Commendation for his outstanding service on Operation FRICTION during the Persian Gulf War (1990-91).

    Jerome retired from the Canadian Forces in 1991 through the Forces Reduction Program. He followed a second career with a pipe manufacturing company in Abbotsford BC from 1994 - 2019.

    Tony Fitzherbert will be holding a Celebration of  Life for his brother Jerome on 20 May 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Hazen Park Center (994 Onondaga Street) in Oromocto,NB.
