After more than 21 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, Cpl Louis-Philippe Horion, CD, will retire on 04 August 2023. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to MCpl K.J. MacNeill at Kevin.MacNeill@forces.gc.ca.
Cpl Louis-Philippe Horion joined the CAF in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, in May 2002 at the age of 20. He joined the Infantry and served with the 1st and 2nd Battalion of the Royal 22e Régiment for thirteen years, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Cpl Horion deployed to Afghanistan twice as part of combat teams and was awarded the Sacrifice Medal. He also participated in Op LOTUS. He changed trades in 2015 to join the Engineers and become a Construction Technician. He completed DP1 in July 2017 and was posted to 3 MSS Bagotville. He completed his apprenticeship training as well as DP2 in 2019. As an Engineer, Cpl Horion deployed on Op CADENCE and Op REASSURANCE and was known for his attention to detail in all aspects of the trade.
After more than 21 years of service to the CAF, Cpl Horion has decided to retire. He, his wife Josée, and their boys Ethan and Victor will return to their hometown to build their retirement home near their loved ones.
