    We regret to advise of the death of Corporal William Owen Roberts Corbett (Ret'd) on 4 June 2014.

    Bill was born in Edmonton in 1919 and was a veteran of the Second World War. After working as a golf caddie and as a farm labourer south of Calgary in his teens, Bill enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers and joined the 1st Battalion RCE in England. That unit became 34th Field Company and Bill landed with the Company on the British beaches in the area of Arromanches, France on 5 July 1944. He saw action through France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany until the end of the war. After the war, he joined Ford Motor Company and worked with Ford in Calgary and then Edmonton until his retirement.

    A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, 21 June at McClure United Church (13708 - 74 Street NW) In Edmonton with a lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CNIB or the Salvation Army. {kh4Sep2015}
