Col John Reginald “Jack” Lines, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Colonel John Reginald “Jack” Lines, CD (Ret’d), peacefully in Moncton NB on 19 October 2021 at the age of 87 years.
Born in Mount Dennis in Toronto ON, Jack entered the Regular Officer Training Program and received a degree in civil engineering from the University of Toronto in 1957. His career in the Royal Canadian Air Force took him across Canada including his first posting surveying on Baffin Island. As a senior officer, he served in Air Transport Command Headquarters and was Deputy Chief of Staff Military Engineering in Air Command Headquarters (1979-81). Jack also served in National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa on both the Vice Chief of Defence Staff and the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff.
Jack retired in 1984 at the rank of colonel and took his project management and construction skills to the Bank of Canada where he worked for the next six years managing their building portfolio. Jack and his wife Helen retired to her family farm in Upper Cape in southeast New Brunswick. Upon retiring to his adopted community, Jack took on many volunteer activities. He spent several years on the board of the Westford Nursing Home, managing the renovation of the heritage Keillor House museum, managing the finances of several local volunteer organizations, and being a lay preacher in his local United Church.
