John Lespérance was born in Windsor, ON and joined the CF in 1969. He served for 35 years as a Military Engineer, retiring in 2005 at the rank of Colonel.
John is a graduate of RMC with a degree in Civil Engineering. Throughout his career he served in a variety of staff and field engineer positions in a variety of locations from CFS Sennetere to 2 CER to FMCHQ to NDHQ and finally with the Pearson Peacekeeping Center in Nova Scotia. He was the Chief Engineer in Bosnia in 1998/99.
Retiring in 2005, John is the President of his own consulting firm, JPLeperance Consulting. He has been Canada’s representative for the development of the African Standby Force, and has been employed in various consulting jobs from Kandahar to RMC. John is a both a military engineer and Professional Engineer in both Quebec and Ontario.
John is active in several volunteer organisations. In addition to being Past-President, he has served as President of the Kingston Chapter of the CMEA. He currently serves as VP Chapter Liaison.
