Capt Roy Lyonnais, CD

Captain Roy Lyonnais has finally decided to call it quits and retire for good.
Roy was born in Rock Island Quebec (Eastern Townships) and enrolled into the military in Toronto 13 Feb 1974. He started Basic training in Cornwallis NS 22 Feb 1974 and was posted to CFSME (Chilliwack) from May 1974 to Mar 1975 on his Plumber Gas Fitter Course.
He was posted to Trenton on completion of trades course Mar 1975 and remained there until Feb 1980 working out of the CE plumbing Shop. He was promoted and posted to Ottawa in Feb 1980 as 2 I/C Plumbing Shop at Highlands. He was promoted to Sgt and posted to Portage La Prairie May of 1981 as I/C Plumbing Shop. He was promoted to WO and posted Petawawa as assistant to RO July 1984. Posted from Petawawa to CFSME Chilliwack as an instructor in July 1988 and promoted to MWO in Aug of 1989 and posted to Masset as the CE Production Superintendant in July 1990 Posted back to CE section CFB Chilliwack as the Assisting Eng O in 1993, he remained at base and took over the BCEO role for the closeout of the base in 1997. In July of 1999, CWO Lyonnais was posted to DGE Ottawa. Roy turned to the “Dark Side” and took his commission in July of 2000 and was posted to Trenton as the CE Operation Officer. He remained there until his release from the regular force, he worked until July 2004 and his official release date was Sept 2004.
After his release Roy and Louise moved back to Chilliwack, BC and Roy worked for a short time with DCC. In Nov 2005 Roy accepted an offer as a Class B Reservist and filled the position of Construction Engineering Officer at Area Support Unit Chilliwack.
Roy has spent his time away from home on tours, Alert – 1976, Alert – 1978, Alert – 1980, Syria – 1987, Croatia – 1994 (1 yr) and Bosnia – 2004 and Louise and his family have supported him throughout it all. Now Roy has decided to call it quits and enjoy the retirement life, stay close to his family and work on his golf game. Roy and Louise will be spending their winters in Arizona and their summers in Chilliwack with their Grandchildren and he says that if he gets bored he will find something to renovate.
His last working day will be on 22 Nov 10. As this is a 2nd Release for Roy, he has requested only a small luncheon with his Section.
