Capt Melody Schonfelder

After more than 10 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, Capt Melody Schonfelder will retire on 02 August 2023. Capt Melody Schonfelder was born in Montreal, QC, in 1995. She joined the CAF in July 2013 at CFRC Det Montreal as a Naval Warfare Officer. In 2017, she transferred occupations to Construction Engineering Officer and completed her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at RMCC in 2018. After graduating from RMCC, she gained experience through OJE with RPOU(O) Det Kingston as the Plans Officer. Following DP1 training at CFSME, CFB Gagetown in 2020, Capt Schonfelder was posted to RPOU(O) Det Kingston and employed as the Plans Officer and subsequently, the Requirements Officer. She was advance promoted to Capt in January 2021. That June, she was posted to 1 ESU where she was employed as a SET commander. In April 2022, she participated in a TAV to recce Canada House in Mali in support of Op PRESENCE Roto 6. In August 2022, she participated in a recce to Resolute Bay to conduct a facility condition assessment for RPOU(N). From August 2022 to January 2023, she participated in the site development planning and design efforts for Operational Support Hub Latin America and the Caribbean. Throughout her time at 1 ESU, she has been involved in the redesign of the 600-yard range on CFB Kingston.
