    After more than 17 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, Capt Jean-Philippe Béland, CD, will retire on 30 December 2022. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to F. Vigneault at Francois.Vigneault@forces.gc.ca.


    Capt Béland graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in civil engineering in 2009. Following the Basic Engineer Officer Course, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and posted to 4 Engineer Support Regiment as a Construction Troop Commander. He participated in a domestic operation in Newfoundland in 2010 as a Liaison Officer and was the Engineer Troop Commander for the Disaster Assistance Response Team. In 2012, Capt Béland was promoted to the rank of Captain and posted to Base Construction Engineering - Wainwright as the Operations Officer. In 2016, he was posted to DCSEM in Gatineau as the Equipment Management Team Leader for Relocatable Temporary Camps. In 2018, he was posted to CF RP Ops Gp HQ in Ottawa as part of the J1 Mil section.

    Capt Béland is married to Lis and together, they have a son, Mathias. In December 2022,

    Capt Béland will retire from the CAF to work in the private sector.
