In "Bridges - Final Report of the Executive Director", Stan Britton and his team describe how the CME Centennial was marked across the entire country. The many and varied events drew attention both within the Branch and across the nation to the long history of military engineering in Canada.
Projects and activies left a legacy for generations to come. In cooperation with the Trans Canada Trail Foundation, the CME initiated the “Bridges for Canada” in which CME units, Regular and Reserve, Army, Navy and Air Force, built 38 bridges along the trail. As well, eight 'The Habitats for Humanity' projects were undertaken, building a total of 17 family homes.
