Brian Saunders - CFB Halifax Fire Department Fire Prevention Officer

    • Brian Saunders

Brian decided at a young age to leave Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia and travel to the West coast of Canada in search of a career with the Navy. In April 1982 he found himself onboard HMCS Gatineau, HMCS Thunder and finally HMCS Chignecto as a Mar/Eng better known as a Stoker. Brian became homesick and returned home to Nova Scotia in November 1990, servicing onboard HMCS Nipigon and finishing his career in the Navy onboard HMCS Toronto in December 1993. Following his career in the Navy, Brian worked for the Halifax Port Authority, as a Millwright, from March 1994 to July 2001. During this time Brian also volunteered as Firefighter with the HRM Fire Department from 1996 to 2003. He enjoyed the Fire Service so much that he successfully applied for a position with the CFB Halifax Fire Department in July 2001 where he is currently employed as a Fire Prevention Officer.

Brian and Pam have recently purchased their retirement home and looking forward to peace and relaxation; Brian has decided to retire in May 2021. Congratulations to Brian on retirement after 35 years of service.

Please send congratulations and well wishes to Greg O’Brien (Chief Fire Inspector CFB Halifax) at Gregory.O'Brien@forces.gc.ca.
