Open Invitation to Depart with Dignity Ceremony for Brigadier-General A.T. Stack
Ma'ams, Sirs, Ladies & Gentlemen,
As Commander of Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre, I wish to invite you to the Depart with Dignity Ceremony for Brigadier-General A.T. Stack. After 38 years of service to the Canadian Armed Forces, Brigadier-General A.T. Stack retired on 31 July 2016. Retiring from the military in St. John's Newfoundland, he has enjoyed pursuing his long lasting position as Senior Education Officer with Eastern School District.
Below, is a summary of his outstanding military career:
Brigadier-General A.T. Stack joined the Canadian Forces Army Reserve in 1978. He served as the Commanding Officer of 56 Field Engineer Squadron, G3 Newfoundland District, G9 Land Force Atlantic Area Headquarters, Commander of 37 Canadian Brigade Group, as well as Deputy Commander and Commander of Land Force Atlantic Area. His last appointment was as Reserve Advisor to Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre from 2012 to 2016.
In 2004, Brigadier-General A.T. Stack served as the Chief of Civil Military Cooperation Operations for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Kabul, Afghanistan. In the fall of 2010 he served as Commander Joint Task Force (NL) during OP LAMA, a Canadian Forces domestic humanitarian relief effort, providing assistance to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador in the wake of Hurricane IGOR.
The Depart with Dignity Ceremony will take place on Saturday, 15 October 2016 at 1600 hours, at the Surgeon Lieutenant-Commander W. Anthony Paddon Building Officers' Mess in St. John's, Newfoundland (115 The Boulevard). Presided by Colonel H.G. Coombs, the ceremony will last until approximately 1700 hours. There is no fee to attend, and a cash bar will be available. All current serving or retired members, their respective spouses, wishing to attend are welcome. Dress is appropriate civilian dress (mess relaxed dress.) Due to the current Treasury Board guidelines, attendees are not authorized to travel at public expense.
Commanding Officer of 37 Combat Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel J.T. Penney, is extending an invitation to his Unit's Dinner to be held at the same location, following the Depart with Dignity Ceremony. The cost for this activity is $25 per person, dress is also appropriate civilian dress (mess relaxed dress).
