Arthur Carl Ellis

    We regret to advise the death of Arthur Carl Ellis at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, SK on 2 March 2003 at the age of 86 years.

    Carl was born and raised in Moose Jaw. Before the war he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railways (CPR) but was an accomplished musician.  In 1939, he was awarded the Associate of the Toronto School of Music diploma for piano as a solo performer. He enlisted for WW II in 1942 and served in the Canadian Army between 1942 and 1946 as a clarinettist in the Royal Canadian Engineers Band touring England, Italy and Northwest Europe. After the war, he returned to the CPR, retiring in 1979 after a 40-year career as a conductor.

    A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Church of Our Lady in Moose Jaw on 6 March at 2:00 PM. with interment in the Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw.  Memorial donations may be made to Providence Place. In memory of Carl, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. {dcOct2017gd} [zpp]
