    We regret to advise of the death of Alan Douglas “Doug” MacLennan at Brock Fahrni Pavilion in Vancouver, BC on 18 August 2016 at the age of 91 years.

    Doug was born in Eyebrow, SK but was raised in southern Ontario.  He was a veteran of the Second World War and served in Europe with the Royal Canadian Engineers.  After the war, Doug played professional football for the Hamilton Wildcats of the Ontario Rugby Football Union, the predecessor of the Canadian Football League.  He farmed near Fergus Ontario until 1968 when he became the first Welfare Administrator of Wellington County.  Doug started the Ontario branch of the MacLennan Clan Canada and served as President of the national association.  Doug and his wife retired to Tsawwassen, B. in 1988 where he was active at the Tsawwassen United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 289 in Tsawwassen. 

    A Celebration of Life will be held on 26 August at 2:00 PM at Tsawwassen United Church.  Donations may be made to Tapestry Foundation for Health Care, Vancouver, BC.  {dcNov2017gd} [zsd, zsp, zpi]
