MWO Ron Granados enrolled in the military from Toronto ON, Feb 1994 as a Naval Reservist (Boatswain), he transferred to the Regular Force as a Combat Engineer in March 1995. Upon Completion of his QL3 course from Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME) in Chilliwack BC, he was posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa ON. While at 2 CER he participated in many courses, exercises and operations. Primarily the Winnipeg floods in 1997, a 6-month tour in Bosnia 1998 and another 6-month tour in Kosovo 2000.
In Jan 2001 he received his occupational transferred to Electrical Distribution Technician and was once again posted to (newly build) CFSME in Gagetown NB and upon completion of his apprentice course (Aug 2001), was posted to the Construction Troop at 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in Edmonton AB. While at 1 CER he completed his apprenticeship program, as well as a 6-month tour in the Golan Heights in 2003, a 6-week construction tasking to Jamaica in 2004, and a 7-month tour to Kandahar 2005.
In July 2006 he was promoted to MCpl and was posted back to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Gagetown NB but this time as an instructor. In January 2008 he was promoted to Sgt and that summer posted (3 yrs.) to the Canadian Embassy in Moscow Russia, as the Projects and Facilities Manager (highlight of his career).
In June 2011 he was promoted to WO and returned to Canada with a posting to Comox BC where he shared his time between Production Officer and 191 Construction Engineering Flight Commander. While in Comox he completed 2 construction tasking’s in spring 2012 participated in an exchange with US Air Force to Tucson Arizona and in fall of 2012, he lead a team for a 2 month construction project to Canadian Consulate in Chongqing China.
In June 2014 he was promoted to MWO and posted to St Jean QC, for his yearlong French course followed by a posting as the RP Ops Unit Quebec Detachment St Jean Sergeant Major. In July 2016 he was posted to Esquimalt long enough to unpack before deploying for yearlong tour to the Canadian Embassy in Kabul Afghanistan as the Facilities Manager. He returned to Canada in Oct 2017 as the RP Ops Unit Pacific Section Esquimalt Sergeant Major.
MWO Granados will be retiring from the CAF on 29 Nov 2018 after 24 years of service, he and his wife will reside in the Victoria area where he has accepted a position as the Royal Roads University Operations Manager. He is married to Ingrid Martel Granados and together they are proud parents of a blended family that has five kids Sarah, Brittany, Roberto, Anthony and Mia along with two grandkids Savannah and Hendrix.
