S/Sgt Frederick “Fred” Clempson, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Staff Sergeant Frederick “Fred” Clempson, CD (Ret’d) at Crystal Ridge Manor Retirement Home, Chilliwack BC on 2 September 2014.
Fred was born in Bolehall, Warwickshire, England and he worked on freighters between Portsmouth, England, and Calais, France before immigrating to Canada in 1941.
Fred joined the Royal Canadian Engineers and served in Quebec, British Columbia, Ontario, and Germany. He retired in Chilliwack in 1968 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his retirement from the military, he managed an occupational workshop, had a plumbing business, worked for Lockheed Shipbuilding in Seattle USA and a pulp mill in Prince George BC. Fred’s final employment was with Corrections Canada’s Kent Institution maximum security facility in Agassiz, BC.
Fred was a long-time member of the Mount Cheam Lions Club of Chilliwack. He spent over 40 years with the Lions holding several positions including District Governor.
A memorial service will be held on 21 September at the Mount Cheam Lions Club Hall, 45580 Spadina Ave, Chilliwack. Donations may be made to the Dementia and Alzheimer Society or to the charity of one’s choice. Another option is to create better awareness of volunteers needed for the elderly at care facilities or to increase staffing throughout Fraser Health to take better care of our senior citizens.{gdMar2016kh}
