    We regret to advise of the death of Captain Gilles Daoust (Ret’d), resident of Cap-Rouge QC, at the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in Quebec City, QC on 4 May 2012 at the age of 68.

    Gilles joined the Canadian Army and attended the Collège Militaire Royal de St. Jean in 1961, followed by the Royal Military College in Kingston, ON where he graduated in 1966. Gilles was one of the original officers assigned to 5eme Escadron du Génie du Canada when that French Language Unit was formed in 1968. After leaving the Forces, Gilles went to work for the Quebec Government.

    Visitation will take place on 13 and 14 May at the Complexe de la Cité Services Commémoratifs, 1600 Le Gendre avenue, Quebec QC. Funeral services will follow in St-Félix de Cap-Rouge church, 1460 Provencher Street on 14 May. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1040 Belvédère Avenue, Quebec City.
