Charles Russell “Russ” Burrows

We regret to advise of the death of Charles Russell “Russ” Burrows on 5 May 2014 peacefully at home in Picton, ON at the age of 93 years.
Russ was born in Illinois, USA but moved to Canada at the age of one. He was a veteran of the Second World War who served with the Royal Canadian Engineers. On 19 August 1942, he was involved in Operation JUBILEE, the Dieppe Raid on the French Coast. He was taken prisoner and was marched from camp to camp in France, Germany and Poland remaining a POW until the end of the war in 1945. In 2012 Russ was selected to be the Royal Canadian Engineer Representative on the Royal Canadian Legion Pilgrimage of Remembrance to Dieppe. Russ was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Branch #78 in Picton.
Russ is resting at the Whattam Funeral Home, 33 Main Street in Picton. Funeral service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78 in Picton on 8 May at 2:00 PM. Cremation to follow.
