We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Emery J. Alphonse Brouillette (Ret’d) peacefully on 21 January 2006 at the Rainy River Health Center, Rainy River, ON at the age of 93 years.
Alphonse was born in Sprague, MB. He joined the Canadian National Railway in 1928 at the age of 16 and worked for them until his retirement in 1970. He was a veteran of the Second World War, joining the Army in Winnipeg, MB in 1941. He served overseas with the 20th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers in England, France and Germany. His brothers Arthur, Paul and Alex also served overseas in the Army. After demobilisation, Alphonse moved to Rainy River, ON where he resided until he died. Alphonse was a Lifetime Member of the Rainy River Legion Branch #54 who received his ‘50 Year’ Legion pin in 2004.
A vigil prayer service will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Roman Catholic Church in Rainy River on 2 June from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial mass will be held the following day at 10:30 AM. A private interment will take place at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, with an Honour Guard provided by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #54.
